Chalmers Modular Fabrication Facility added another feather in its cap as it successfully delivered a challenging project for a renowned Alumina Refinery expansion project in the UAE.
Chalmers was entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out detailed engineering, supply, fabrication, testing & preparation for transport of 45 Nos CS storage tanks (including 2 silos), built in compliance with API 650 standards, including the requisite heat conservation insulation with cladding, external surface preparation and protective coating for the tanks, as applicable.
All tanks including the accessories, tank internals, insulation and cladding were fully assembled at Chalmers Modular Fabrication Facility prior to transport. Tank structural attachments such as stairs, ladders, platforms, etc. were pre-assembled and trial-fitted before being delivered separately for ease of installation at site. Of the 45 tanks, some of which were 14 meter in diameter and 19 meter in height, 31 tanks were delivered quay side using SPMT for transportation to site via sea.
This commendable achievement was lauded by all the stake holders - the end-users, project management consultants and the world renowned EPC JV customer team – alike, as they highly appreciated Chalmers technical skill, commitment to QHSE and ability to manage an important job of this magnitude under time pressure yet with precision. This success is attributed to and is a testimony of the hard work and dedication of over 750 men working around the clock to achieve the total tonnage exceeding 1,500 MT in a short duration of a little over six months, all the while adhering to the stringent safety and quality demands of the project.
